The following team members are just the tip of the iceberg. There are many volunteers and students who are also regular and important members of the NEDIC team.

 

Merryl Bear M.Ed. (Psych)
Director

Merryl has worked in the area of disordered eating, food and weight preoccupation since 1990. She has taught and counselled at high schools, community colleges and university, where she taught at initial teacher training and post-graduate level, and has also worked as an educational psychologist. A frequent resource to print and broadcast media, Merryl has also written and presented widely in the areas of self-esteem, body image and disordered eating.

In recognition of her work at NEDIC, Merryl was awarded the Toronto Sun's Women on the Move Award in 1995 and has been included in the Who's Who of Canadian Women since 1996.

 

Suzanne Phillips *on leave
Program Coordinator

Suzanne joined NEDIC in March 2007.  Suzanne has over two years experience as a telephone helpline worker at the Eating Disorders Association in the UK.  She comes from a broadcast/media background, having spent over 10 years working in the field of television and film and has spent almost 5 years working in the recruitment sector in the UK and Toronto.  Suzanne also brings over 5 years experience in team and operations management.  She is currently pursuing her CHRP designation on a part-time basis at Ryerson University.

 

Tina Szeto
Program Coordinator

Tina joined NEDIC in January 2010. She has worked in health promotion for non-profit, private and community organizations. Through her education and experience, Tina developed an interest in cross-cultural and women’s health. She plans to pursue her Masters degree in health studies and hopes to conduct research in cultural issues and eating disorders. Tina is a graduate of Centennial College’s Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion post-graduate program.

 

Tracy Barber
Technical and Administrative Coordinator

Tracy came to NEDIC part-time in May 2007, bringing with her a wide skill-set honed in the high-tech industry, local and national non-profit organizations, and her own Pilates studio.  She is experienced in Internet project development and management, proposal writing, marketing, and adult education.  Along with an honours degree from University of Toronto, Tracy is a Personal Trainer and a Nutrition/Wellness specialist certified by the Canadian Association of Fitness Professionals and a certified Pilates Advanced Mat Work Teacher. She is also a CanFitPro Accredited Continuing Education Provider.
