Mobile App-Delivered Motivational Interviewing for Individuals on Eating Disorder Clinic Waitlists: Pilot and Feasibility Study

Have you been waitlisted for eating disorder services in British Columbia?

Researchers at the University of British Columbia are seeking participants for a study of a pilot test of the MI-Coach©, an app for adult women on eating disorder waitlists. They are evaluating whether the app, designed to increase motivation to recover from an eating disorder, is acceptable to participants and a feasible way to increase waitlist retention and treatment adherence.

Participation will involve a 45-minute orientation on Zoom, one-month use of the MI-Coach ED app, completion of two sets of questionnaires, and a final Zoom interview about their experience. It is estimated that participation will take 5-14 hours in total. Participants will receive $10 CAD for each component of the study completed ($40 CAD in total).

You may be eligible to participate in the study if you:

  1. identify as a woman;
  2. are between the ages of 18-60;
  3. are on an eating disorder service waitlist in British Columbia; and
  4. are fluent in written and spoken English.
