Views on Proposed Criteria for Terminal Anorexia

Share your perspective

Researchers at the Centre for Psychology and Emotion Regulation and York University are conducting a study to better understand different views regarding the proposed criteria for terminal anorexia (Gaudiani et al., 2022). Such criteria have substantial implications as they will be used to identify eligibility for Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). Presently there is no consensus with respect to defining what constitutes palliative or terminal definitions of anorexia. Thus, this project seeks to explore how people view the proposed criteria for terminal anorexia.

You are eligible to participate if you:

  • Are aged 18+
  • Are a fluent English speaker and reader
  • Have lived experience with an eating disorder and/or are a caregiver of someone with an eating disorder and/or are a clinician working in the field of eating disorders

Participation will involve responding to a survey that will take about 20 minutes. You will be asked provide:

  • Demographic information
  • Your perspective regarding the proposed criteria for terminal anorexia nervosa
