Exploration of the Impacts of Weight Stigma on Individuals with Atypical Anorexia Nervosa

Researchers at the University of Victoria are seeking participants for an interview-based study with the goal of better understanding how negative attitudes and beliefs about body size (i.e. weight stigma) shape how individuals with atypical anorexia nervosa view and understand their illness.

You are eligible to participate if you:

  • are over the age of 19,
  • live in Canada or the United States,
  • have previously received a formal diagnosis of Atypical Anorexia Nervosa,
  • have been in recovery from the diagnosed eating disorder for at least one year, and
  • do not currently have a mental health diagnosis that you believe could lead to safety concerns that arise through participation in this study.

Participation will involve:

  • answering questions about your experience with weight stigma in relation to your previous diagnosis of Atypical Anorexia Nervosa.

This study is being conducted by Sage DaSilva, a third-year Masters in Counselling student under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Nutter
