Medication and Other Drugs for Eating Disorders

Do you have an eating disorder?  Do you take any prescription medication? Psychedelics, cannabis, or other drugs? Caffeine, alcohol, or tobacco?

Researchers at the University of Sydney and InsideOut Institute in Australia are seeking participants for a study to investigate the types of psychiatric medications being prescribed to individuals with eating disorders and, importantly, the perspectives of affected individuals on the impact of medications on their eating disorder symptoms and mental wellbeing. 


You are eligible to participate if you:

  • are 18 years of age or over 
  • have a current eating disorder/ disordered eating that is causing significant distress 
  • are confident reading in English


Participation will involve completion of the online Medication and other drugs for Eating Disorders (MED-FED) survey, which will take 10 to 20 minutes. 


The MED-FED survey is being coordinated by Sarah-Catherine Rodan, PhD student, and is being overseen by Professor Iain McGregor and Associate Professor Sarah Maguire.
