Use of Cannabis in Recovering from an Eating Disorder

Researchers at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) are seeking individuals enrolled at UNB or St. Thomas University (STU) to participate in a study investigating use of cannabis by persons who want help with an eating disorder. No medical diagnosis is needed.

To be eligible to participate in this study, you must be:

  • At least 19 years old
  • English speaking
  • Living with an eating disorder for 6 months or more
  • Willing to participate in 2 individual interviews

As a participant in this study, you will be asked to have 2 individual, confidential interviews with a research assistant who will ask you about your experiences with cannabis use and any effect on your eating issue. The interview will take place by telephone in the comfort of your home.

Your participation is entirely voluntary and will take approximately 30-60 minutes for each of two interviews. If you wish, we will send you copies of your interview transcripts that will have names and other personal information removed. Also, if you wish, we will send you a summary of the main ideas from all the interviews, again with all confidential information removed. You will be given the opportunity to give us any feedback about the results.

By participating in this study, you will help us to understand how cannabis can influence eating disorder recovery. The results can inform future studies.
